Hugh Morton
Coach and Mentor
For over 26 years I led, coached and mentored individuals, teams and corporate divisions in my role as a senior leader in a complex, dynamic and progressive FTSE 100 company. Throughout this period I learned significantly from the experience I gained whilst developing my own career from junior management to Executive Director level.
This learning did not always come from success and achievement. Some of my best learning was gained from the mistakes I made and disappointments I experienced.
My Story
After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, I entered the financial services sector. Initially as a business owner, running a successful advisory practice for over 10 years. In 1996 I joined the management team of J. Rothschild Assurance, a start-up business, which evolved to become St. James’s Place Wealth Management.
During my tenure, through various roles and responsibilities, I contributed to the growth of the organisation from dynamic start up to FTSE 100.
Such a rapid rate of growth brings opportunities, and challenges such as change management, infrastructure stress, people management, cultural shift, corporate politics, and increased scrutiny on results from key stakeholders. My life and career experience have ensured I’m well positioned as an executive coach and mentor for business owners, executives, and senior leaders looking to develop their knowledge, skills and careers.
I enjoy time with my family and friends, playing and listening to music, and volunteering for MacMillan cancer care.
“I have really enjoyed the sessions I have had with Hugh to date. It is great to have a forum to step back from the details of running a business and reflect on the bigger picture of how far we have come and the lessons we can take into the future. His approach and manner make him very easy to chat to and his insights are always practical and helpful.”
